Dengue: what helps, what to avoid, and when to go to hospital.
Most people with dengue recover in one to two weeks. So what actually helps, and what should you avoid?
Rest, drink plenty of liquids, and use paracetamol for fever. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen, which can increase bleeding.
Watch closely after the fever settles. Belly pain, vomiting, bleeding or cold skin mean hospital, immediately.
A second infection carries a higher risk, so keep preventing mosquito bites, especially during the day.
The clinic's DENGO capsule is described as a blood-thinning agent. WHO advises avoiding medicines that increase bleeding in dengue, and no trial of the capsule was found.
Its leaflet also reprints Dr. Majid Ali's guidelines with hydrogen peroxide. No support was found; proper medical care is what lowers deaths.
At home: rest and drink plenty, use paracetamol, not aspirin or ibuprofen, and go to hospital for any warning sign.
